The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006 came into force on 02 January 2007. Producers and distributors of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) have to comply with these new waste rules from 01 July 2007.

Producers will be responsible for financing the collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of waste EEE (WEEE!) from private households via a designated collection facility and from organisations where old EEE is replaced by new EEE and/or the old EEE was purchased after 13 August 2005.

May well be worth keeping records of purchase of EEE so that disposal of WEEE is not time consuming.
