Consultation on changes to Entertainment Licensing
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has published a consultation on proposed amendments to the Licensing Act 2003. The Act was passed to update the regulations for theatre law relating to venue licensing, and there has been some criticism that some of the provisions have not worked as well as expected.
The Government proposes to simplify the requirements for (amongst other things) the notification of temporary event notices (TENs). All responses must be received by 09 February 2010. The proposal includes the ability to obtain a TEN on less than the current ten day’s notice, and the extension of the period during which the police may object from 48 hours to three working days.
The consultation document and information can be found on the DCMS website.
