Writers: DCMS consultation on creating an online archive
Copies of all printed publications published in the UK have to be deposited with the British Library so that they can be preserved for the benefit of future generations (even if the publication becomes out of print).
The Legal Deposit Advisory Panel made a number of recommendations to the DCMS relating to similar obligations for the deposit of UK offline and online non-print publications. If you are a writer of online publications that are available to the public free of charge and accessible without restriction, it may be worth looking at these proposals (details on the DCMS website).
